Research from the Ponemon Institute Reports a Strong Concern About IoT Security
Techrepublic reported on a joint Shared Assessments and Ponemon Institute research report that found 94% of risk management professionals believe that a security incident resulting from unsecured IoT devices "could be catastrophic". Utility Professionals Name Cyber and Physical Security Their Most Pressing Concern
In Utility Dive’s fourth annual State of the Electric Utility Survey, more than 600 utility professionals named cyber and physical security the most pressing concern for their companies, with 72% saying it is either “important” or “very important” today. Washington DC City Officals - Surveillance Cameras Were Hit By Ransomware
The Washington Post reported that Washington DC City officials were hit by ransomware that, between Jan. 12 and Jan. 15, left the police cameras unable to record events. The cyberattack affected 123 of 187 cameras network video recorders deployed in a closed circuit TV system for public spaces across the city, the officials said late Friday in disclosing the event.

Report says 80% of IoT apps not tested for vulnerabilities
A new report from the Ponemon Institute, IBM, and Arxan claims that just 20% of IoT apps are actually tested for vulnerabilities.
